Piste cyclable et viaduc Herrmann Debroux

Il y a quelques semaines, je vous parlais de la piste cyclable assez originale qui s'arrêtait à quelques mètres du viaduc Herrmann-Debroux et se terminait par une panneau "interdit aux cyclistes". Une piste en forme de cul de sac.
Le cycliste était censé, selon les informations d'une association de cyclistes, traverser le carrefour d'Herrmann-Debroux, ce qui semblait un peu suicidaire.
Cette situation a été dénoncée par plusieurs cyclistes et il semblerait que les autorités aient pris des mesures. Comme vous pouvez le voir sur cette photo, il y a maintenant une déviation pour les cyclistes! Il doivent donc contourner le carrefour et passer après par une petite rue (celle à sens unique par laquelle on accède au parking du Delhaize). On peut se demander pourquoi avoir fait cette piste cyclable si pour finir on ne l'utilise pas vu impraticabilité? Pour dire qu'on s'occupe des cyclistes? Vu le détour prévu (il faut repasser plus loin sous le viaduc et se retrouver en plein dans la circulation), je pense que le plus simple et sûr est de descendre de son vélo, faire comme les piétons en respectant les feux de signalisation et finalement retrouver la piste cyclable centrale en bravant le panneau l'interdisant.
Ah si seulement ils avaient pensé dès le départ à une solution logique, sûre et pratique on n'en serait pas là.

Fête de l'environnement

une journée pour s'informer sur tout ce qui touche à l'écologie avec de nombreux acteurs présents,
une journée pour petits et grands avec une grande variété d'activités,
Une journée pour écouter le super-méga-trop-cool Milow à 18h et ce gratuitement!! ( je vous avoue que j'y serai)
une journée sur le thème de la forêt: avis aux amateurs

Alors si vous ne savez pas quoi faire dimanche prochain, je crois que c'est une journée à ne pas rater!

Cupcakes après l'effort

While some of you are currently running the 20km of Brussels, other go brunching at Lilicup, near the place du Chatelain. It's probably the best address in the city to enjoy cupcakes. But it's also a tea room where you can sip a cup of tea with scones (blueberry ones, absolutely delicious).

All the cupcakes there are special. There's the Reese: a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter inside (for those of you who know what Reese is, it's a killer). There's the cuberdon: a cupcake with a frosting tasting the cuberdon and a cuberdon inside. And plenty of more particular flavors. My favorite one is Coco: a vanilla cupcake topped with a coconut frosting tasting like a bounty and with a strawberry jam inside.

Le vélo c'est hype en ce moment à Bruxelles. Ces dernières années, le nombre de cycliste n'a fait qu'augmenter (+16% en 2010). Grâce aux aménagements cyclables mais aussi grâce au système villo! Celui-ci comptabilise aujourd'hui 20 000 abonnés.
Petit bémol: il n'est pas encore disponible partout à Bruxelles. Mais patience, il devrait l'être d'ici le printemps prochain (ou celui d'après vu la rapidité des travaux en Belgique).
Autre nouveauté: on peut maintenant payer avec sa carte mobib après l'avoir activée pour villo sur le site. On peut donc maintenant l'utiliser pour la STIB, pour Cambio et pour Villo! Espérons que les autres sociétés de transport en commun s'uniront au projet pour permettre plus de mobilités entre les réseaux.
Bonus pour les mobibiens: l'abonnement villo est gratuit jusqu'en septembre. L'occasion de tester ce système (honte à moi, je ne l'ai pas encore fait).

Petit coup de gueule très local:

Avoir des vélos, c'est bien. Rester vivant, c'est mieux! A Hermann-Debroux, un aménagement bien étrange ne laisse pas d'étonner les cyclistes imprudents. Leur tort? Emprunter la piste cyclable! Ben oui, faut être bête pour prendre une piste cyclable qui se termine en cul de sac. Ou peut-être que la bêtise est à chercher ailleurs... Admirez les images. Un petit rigolo a taggé le sol non sans humour !
A l'heure actuelle, nous avons donc le choix: se faire tuer par un tram, se faire tuer par une voiture, faire demi-tour et ne plus emprunter cette piste cyclable. Hum, je me demande quelle solution je vais adopter.
J'ai envoyé un mail à la commune lui demandant ce que l'on est censé faire à cet endroit. Celle-ci a transféré mon mail à la Région: c'est de leur compétence. Alea jacta est!

Several of my friends have told me I should try once Ethiopian cuisine. I got this opportunity last friday, despite being sick as hell. We went to Kokob, not very far from the Manneken Pis.

It was excellent! The food was served on a large plate where each of us could dip in with our fingers. With a little pancake named injera. It was our first time there, so the waitress explained us how to eat. She took a little piece of injera, filled it with food, and then placed it in my mouth. She said it's a way to say enjoy your meal to your guest. I had to do the same for my friend.

I had to pick the least spicy dished on the menu because of my disease, but the spicy ones my friend took looked absolutely yummy. The injera makes you full very quickly. It was my case. And my disease didn't help me.

During the evening, the lights went off several time. We were only enlightened by candelights, made out of salt.

In Brussels, there are many many cafes. Depending on what you expect from it, you can find your happiness everywhere. Personally, I have a thing for le roi des Belges, which is not too noisy and where I can laugh with my friends over a glass of beer. I also like the Ultime Atome, on the place Boniface.

One of my friends says they serve the best tarte tatin of Brussels. I haven't checked that yet. Shame on me.
Recently, I got to try other cafes near the stock Exchange. If you're into jazz orchestra, then go the Archiduc. There's also the Metteko not very far.
I also tried this.

It's the Fol Goupil. A cafe where you bring your lover. Go there and you will understand why...
They don't serve a lot of drinks there. If you're into fruit wines, this is the place for you. I particularly enjoyed the Cherry wine.
It's a real maze out there! People were constantly asking where were the toilets. Inside, you have several rooms and each of them is decorated differently. But these have all one thing in common: all the furnitures seem to come from the local dumpster...

If you're a traveler, it's a good place to meet people like you and share your experience. I particularly enjoyed there a white tea perfumed with rose...

The name of this restaurant is well chosen - we went for dinner the other day with friends (and 2 small children) at the 'Star of Fortune' and really found happiness! Their Tunisien food is very good, the waiters and even the other clients very kind. Recommended!

Les technologies se multiplient à une vitesse vertigineuse et de nouveaux appareils apparaissent plus nombreux chaques jours. Tous ces appareils fonctionnent généralement grâce à l'électricité et leur portabilité dépend de leur batterie. Celles-ci sont devenues vitales pour continuer à faire vivre tout notre attirail.
Si vous avez eu dernièrement des ennuis avec des batteries ou leur chargeur(GSM, ordinateurs, ...) vous vous en êtes sûrement rendus compte. Les vendeurs aussi.
Pour avoir une nouvelle batterie, le coût est un obstacle non négligeable. Trouver une nouvelle batterie relève aussi de la gageure. Enfin, les garanties considèrent souvent que les batteries sont des accessoires à remplacer régulièrement et vous trouverez souvent une clause excluant celle-ci de la garantie (2 ans si tout va bien). Certes, a priori cette clause est non valide, mais en soi, c'est une indication pour le juge qui pourrait considérer qu'effectivement une batterie est quelque chose d'éphèmère. Bref, beaucoup d'ennuis avec ces batteries.
Heureusement, après un petit parcours du combattant, j'ai pu dénicher le Saint Graal. Un chargeur de pc garanti 3 ans (!!) à Bruxelles et pas si cher vu la garantie. Je l'ai trouvé dans un magasin qui ne vend que des chargeurs, batteries, piles, ... Où se trouve-t-il? Au n° 52 du Boulevard Emile Jacqmain, 1000 Bruxelles (à quelques mètres de la station de métro De Brouckère). C'est ouvert du lundi au vendredi de 10 à 18h30, le samedi de 10 à 12h30 et de 14 à 18h.

3 supermarchés asiatiques à deux pas de la Bourse

Vous aimez la cuisine asiatique? Si oui, vous connaissez sûrement ces adresses. Et si ce n'est pas le cas, vous allez faire une découverte d'envergure.
L'intérêt de ces trois supermarchés, c'est qu'ils sont très proches les uns des autres et que vous êtes sûrs de tout trouver dans un périmètre rapproché.

Kam Yuen. En 2007, Dolores vous en parlait ici. Situé au coin de la rue de la vierge noire (n°2) à 1000 Bruxelles, ce supermarché asiatique est le plus grand (à ma connaissance) de Bruxelles: leur site internet. Le samedi, il y a foule. Si vous cherchez quelque chose d'asiatique, il s'y trouve sûrement.On y trouve notamment:

Des produits d'épicerie (dashi, miso, sauce soja, sauce mirin, ...) Il y a vraiment beaucoup de produits, vous en faire la liste serait trop long (et j'en serais bien incapable) mais cela m'étonnerait que l'ingrédient que vous cherchez ne s'y trouve pas.
Du riz de toutes sortes
Des cuiseurs à riz (trois marques: Panasonic, Remo et une marque plus chère: quelque chose comme Gallantz)
Des bouchées vapeur, des crevettes, ...
Des plats préparés (l'équivalent des Aiki Noodles dans les supermarchés "normaux")
Des sucreries asiatiques
Des paniers en bambous de toutes tailles (il y en a énormément)
Des ustensiles de cuisine et des décorations.
Par contre, le rayon frais est assez restreint: patates douces, citronelle, germes de soja, ...

Wang li est situé au n° 7 rue des Halles (la rue juste avant celle de la vierge noire). Ce magasin vend aussi pleins de produits asiatiques de toutes sortes, des cuiseurs à riz mais surtout des produits congelés: toutes sortes de crevettes, des bouchées vapeurs, ... Vous trouverez plus d'infos sur leur site internet ainsi que dans cette interview. Si dans le supermarché KY, il faut un peur courir après un renseignement, ici, c'est le renseignement qui vient à vous. 5 minutes passées dedans et plusieurs vendeuses nous ont proposé leur aide parfois bien nécessaire quand on ne connait pas les produits.

Rue Saint Catherine (celle qui croise la rue de la vierge noire), à quelques mètres du supermarché Kam Yuen, sur le trottoir d'en face, vous trouverez encore un magasin asiatique. J'en ai fait un rapide petit tour. J'ai vu: d'énormes sacs de riz, des produits d'épicerie, des cuiseurs à riz (2, 3, 4 ou 5L). Je ne connais pas le nom de ce magasin ni le n° mais vous n'aurez aucune peine à trouver.

Noch bin ich nicht persönlich vorbeigegangen, aber die Webseite sieht vielversprechend aus... und falls ich es nicht hinschaffe, gibt es auch einen Webshop, sehr praktisch für vielbeschäftigte Mamas!

So, Bruxelles-les-Bains is open again, from this Friday until the 22nd of July. This year, they could open it on time. It wasn't the case last year because of the bad weather we had on that month.
The little place where we had lunch this midday was just starting, and all the very young waiters were a bit lost with all of the orders. Everyone had decided to have their lunch there, because they were the only one to propose table and chairs under a parasol. I don't like eating in the sun, especially on midday. And today, as it was over 35°C on midday, I really appreciated eating under a parasol.
I've got a feeling this year will have a lot of success. During the evening, there are a lot of concerts and parties. If you're into les Aperos Urbains, this may be an alternative.

Café du Vaudeville

I recently went for a lunch in a nice and cosy place, hidden away in the Galéries St. Hubert (Galérie de la Reine): the Café du Vaudeville. You can actually sit 'outside' the café in the Galérie, very nice when it's rainy! They also have places inside and on the first floor where they occupy several rooms which prevents you from feeling 'lost'.

Behind the restaurant/café on the first floor, there's a theater (which I haven't seen) and a bar. The Vaudeville proposes all sorts of theme nights and activities for companies and, if it's getting late, guest rooms!

The food (Belgian) was very good and not too expensive (lunch for € 12,50 if I'm not mistaken). I'll definitely go back to check out their Gaufres one of these days...

Lazy Sundays

A Brunch on a lazy sunday? That's such a great idea. Here in Brussels, more and more cafes start to propose a brunch formula. Frauke, Erika and Laurence would probably recall well this one:

It's the café Modèle, located at the end of the rue Antoine Dansaert, just near the canal. A nice little cafe a bit retro, and I particularly like the teas they propose, especially the violet perfume. It's also one of the cheapest brunch you can find in the city. At Tea & Eat, it will cost you 20 euros.
There's also another option, a most expensive one: Mmmmh. This will cost you 40 euros. And you will have to cook your brunch yourself. Under the supervision of a chef. I just spent my sunday there today with my friends. And I almost confused the salt and the sugar (damned jars) to put in a tart. This is a more original formula than Cafe Modele and Tea& Eat, and you get the recipe at the end of the brunch. Plus, this sunday, they proposed a free lesson of patisserie. If I chose to stay, I would have made my own eclair of chocolat. But again, you will have to do the cooking yourself. With more or less success...

3 resto pour max 10 euros

Souvent, entre étudiants quand on doit manger au centre-ville ou même ailleurs, on finit dans un snack dürum, un quick ou un mac do. Cher pour ce que c'est et pas très diététique. On préfèrerait nettement aller dans un petit resto. Mais en trouver un pas cher, c'est pas toujours facile.
Ici, je vous propose trois petits restaurants où vous pouvez manger pour moins de 10 euros. Bien sûr, ce n'est pas de la grande gastronomie. Mais je les ai visités tous les 3 avec des amis et nous avons tous été contents de nos plats. Deux asiatiques et un bistro, 3 quartiers différents, j'espère que cela vous aidera quand vous devrez trouver un endroit pour manger

Le Da Kao II (02-512.67.16): 19, Rue Van Artevelde, 1000 Bruxelles: J'y ai été hier. Très contente sur tous les points. Commande et service rapide. Large choix de plats. (dont végétariens) Prix minis: soupe à 2€, plats allant de 6-8€ à 15€. Plat ni copieux ni trop léger (juste pour mon apétit). Salle assez petite donc pensez à réserver. Pendant que nous mangions, nous avons vu plusieurs personnes attendre à l'extérieur que des places se libèrent.
Le Miladiou (en photo) (02-660.42.30): 2, Place Andrée Payfa-Fosseprez, 1170 Watermael-Boitsfort: Bistrot au cadre charmant. Une cuisine simple mais bonne. Possibilité de manger une assiette de spaghetti bolo à 8€. Les autres plats sont plus élaborés. J'étais venue avec des amies. Nous sommes restées de 19h à 23h, et on ne nous a pas jeté dehors. Un endroit sympa où l'on se sent à l'aise
China Express (02 646 20 44): 309 Chaussée d'Ixelles, 1050 Ixelles: Bon petit resto chinois vraiment pas cher. Soupes à 2€, plats à 6-8€. Idéal pour les étudiants et les petites bourses. Quand vous n'avez pas envie de cuisiner, faites appel à eux. Plats à emporter ou à manger sur place.

Aussi quand vous envisagez d'aller manger au restaurant, je vous conseille ce site: city-plug. La plupart des restaurants bruxellois y sont référencés et vous avez des avis d'internautes. Pratique pour repérer de bonnes adresses. Et puis après votre repas, n'oubliez pas d'aller commenter que ce soit en positif ou négatif pour prévenir les autres.

Le Styx

Pour les cinéphiles ou simplement ceux qui n'apprécient pas trop le Kinépolis ou l'UGC, il y a plusieurs petits cinémas à Bruxelles. On vous a déjà parlé de l'Arenberg et de l'Actor's Studio.
Je vais vous parler du Styx. Situé non loin de la Porte de Namur (72 Rue de l'Arbre bénit, 1050 Bruxelles) et par la même occasion de l'UGC et du Vendôme, le Styx est un tout petit cinéma qui a été créé dans une maison. Il n'y a que deux salles d'environ 40 places, mais peu de risque de se retrouver sans siège. Ici, pas de popcorn qui fait du bruit et rend les sièges collants.
Selon les films et les séances, vous vous retrouverez seul ou accompagné. Le prix des places est aussi une bonne raison de préférer ce cinéma: 5€ quand il atteint les 9€ à l'UGC.
Vous hésitez encore? Sachez qu'il n'y a pas ou peu de files et pas de publicité. Les fauteuils sont très confortables, même si presque trop profonds. (on a du mal à en sortir)
La programmation est évidemment restreinte mais ce sont de très bons films.

9 und Nachbarn

Gestern Abend hatte ich ein paar Besorgungen zu machen in der Innenstadt und dann blieb mir noch ein bisschen Zeit, bevor ich mich mit Freunden treffen wollte. Ich bin ins Halles St. Géry-Viertel gewandert, wo ich früher öfters auch mal vor- oder nachmittags war (und z.B. leckere Brote bei Mappa Mundo gegessen habe). Es war gar nicht so einfach, die 'passende' Bar zu finden - entweder war's verräuchert (so wie im Mappa Mundo, oder im Mezzo und im Café Central) oder schon voll (Roi des Belges und Zebra - da war ich übrigens komischerweise noch nie). Im Archiduc war ein tolles Livekonzert, aber deshalb natürlich auch kein Plätzchen mehr für mich frei. Das Greenwich war noch zu, da wäre ich sonst sicher untergekommen.

Gelandet bin ich dann in einer neuen (?) Brasserie, 9 et Voisin. Ruhige Musik (endlich eine Bar, wo man sich tatsächlich unterhalten kann, ohne sich anschreien zu müssen!!), genügend Platz, nette Bedienung und ab 18h auch so einiges Gutes zu essen. Ich habe nur die Tagessuppe probiert, die war sehr lecker. Und gutes Brot gab's dazu, auch wichtig. Das Publikum ist gemischt (man kann von seinem Neugeborenen bis zur Großmutter bedenkenlos alle Altersklassen dort mit hinnehmen) und die Preise sind ok, dafür alle krum: Mein Minztee hat 2,16 gekostet, die Tagessuppe 3,92...

Zu empfehlen also!

Musique qui permet que l'on se parle sans se crier dessus, public mixte (je n'hésiterais d'y amener ni bébé ni mémé), service sympa. Bon repas aussi - à juger au regard des plats servis aux tables voisines, je n'ai goûté qu'à la soupe du jour (très bonne). Une adresse à retenir !

Ah, qu'est ce qu'on adore le chou de Bruxelles ! Non, je rigole, je ne partagerais pas mes meilleurs recettes de chou de Bruxelles avec vous (d'ailleurs, je crois n'en avoir jamais cuisiné), mais plutôt une bonne adresse pour permettre à nos petits choux d'être des choux (de Bruxelles) tout verts:

China in your hand

Sorry, this picture is a bit distorted. I took it in a hurry. I was running late for a seminar at Square, just in front of this building, but I couldn't help stopping for a moment to contemplate this. After all, we don't see that often in the city. After street lights getting a scarf, buildings now get a makeover. This one has been made because of the Europalia China exhibition held right now in different places in Brussels and also elsewhere. It runs from the 8th of October to the 14th of February (on Valentine's day...). Seminars, shows, orchestras, ... will be given during this period. Check out the website.
This building was the starting point of an artist's trail, called China in Town, but unfortunately, it's already over. However, I've received two tickets for Les trois rêves du Mandarin, which runs until the 14th of February. I'm just disappointed they didn't put the Tea exhibition in Brussels.

Among the places people visit when they come to Brussels, Tropismes is an address recommended by many. The explanation is really simple: it's located near the very popular Galeries de la Reine. This library often organize events with authors. On the 27th of november (very soon), Jean-Philippe Toussaint will come and present his new book in the evening. For those who are a big fan of her, Penelope Bagieu (Joséphine) often comes to dedicate her books too. I guess Dolores will explain it better than me ;)

In a time where people buy their books more and more online, I think it's great to count on libraries like Tropismes to promote literature, and authors who wouldn't have their chance among the vast offer on the web (not to mention that site like Amazon always put the bestsellers on display, but never the most confidential writers). If you're like me, allergic to big bestsellers like Dan Brown, a place like Tropismes will help you find writers who will carry you away with their words. I'm just wondering if the owners plan to do something like this. But I don't think Thomas Gunzig is that hippie...

C.Ramic Art Café

L'année passée j'avais offert une journée au C.Ramic Art Café - et ce samedi on a enfin trouvé le temps d'y passer. Le concept est simple et fort sympa: on y boit non seulement un petit café, on choisit aussi un objet en porcelaine (enfin, en céramique, quoi) que l'on peut peindre en suivant son instinct artistique ! Il y en a pour tous les gouts, des chats et d'autre bêbêtes, des bols, des tasses, des petites boites à secret en forme de muffin (retenu pour une prochaine fois !), des assiettes, et plein d'autres choses. On a vraiment l'embarras du choix, mais une fois qu'on s'est lancé, les idées viennent toutes seules... Dans deux semaines, je pourrais récupérer notre production (passée au four et couverte d'une couche protectrice) et si je suis contente du résultat, je vous montrerai peut-être une photo...

Très chouette atmosphère, une bonne activité en famille ou avec des amis - je vous le recommande chaudement !

Galérie de la Reine

There's a place I often visit in the center of Brussels: les galeries de la reine. Whenever I'm near the Grand Place, I try to take a walk through this gallery. There, it's like time has frozen over. The noise of the city, at the beginning and the end of the gallery, is hidden. From time to time, it's overcrowded with groups of tourists, but it's possible to cross it almost alone, and when you have the occasion to do so, it's just marvelous. When our national rain drops outside, the gallery embrace a very special atmosphere.

The gallery is also the home of the Arenberg cinema, and Tropismes, one of my favorite library in Brussels. A topic for another post. ;)

Schwimmbad mit Aussicht

Nachdem Barnabé alle Eisläden in Brüssel für uns ausprobiert, dachte ich mir, ein bisschen Sport würde uns gut tun... also, ab ins Schwimmbad!
Letzte Woche war ich zum ersten Mal im Schwimmbad der Gemeinde Brüssel - ein Schwimmbad mit Aussicht! Das Schwimmbad liegt gleich neben dem Place de Jeu de Balle und ist echt 'retro', gebaut in Jahr 1953. Man klettert (oder fährt) in den dritten Stock, lässt seine Sachen in der Kabine liegen und springt ins Becken - und schwimmt auf den Turm der Chapelle zu.

J'ai été pour la première fois au Piscines du Centre, située juste à côté de la place du Jeu de Balle, au 3e étage, avec vue sur la tour de l'Eglise de la Chapelle ! Une piscine rétro, construite en 1953, avec parking vélo à l'entrée, mais un peu trop de chlore dans l'eau. Ouverte lundi-vendredi 7h30-19h30 et samedi 7h30-17h00.

Als ich vor zwei Tagen abends nach der Arbeit durch die Stadt gelaufen bin, habe ich einen wunderbaren Platz entdeckt: ein neues chinesisches Teehaus am Fuße des Mont des Arts. Das Teehaus gehört zum Programm der europalia.china, die am 08.10.2009 beginnt. Im Teehaus kann man unterschiedliche chinesische Teesorten probieren, grüner Tee, Kräutertee und natürlich schwarzen Tee. Tee mit Reis, oder Tee mit Süßholz - Letzteren habe ich mir ausgesucht und ihn wirklich sehr genossen, serviert in Glasteekannen und getrunken aus kleinen Glasteetässchen. Es liegen Programme der europalia.china aus, man kann sich also gleich überlegen, was man noch so alles entdecken möchte.

En me baladant en ville après le boulot il y a quelques jours, je suis tombée sur une nouvelle Maison de Thé, ouverte dans le cadre de l'europalia.china. La Maison du Thé propose différentes très délicieuses sortes de thé chinois, des dégustations gratuites, et ne sera ouverte qu'au 14 février 2009 - n'attendez donc pas trop longtemps pour vous y rendre ! Ouverte tlj entre 11h et 23h.

C'est en passant dans la rue Vanderkindere pour me rendre chez leur concurrent Zizi que j'ai vu ce glacier.
Toute entière dévouée à ce blog, je suis revenue pour le tester.
Et j'ai bien fait! Car comme l'indique très peu modestement leur site, ce glacier est le meilleur de Bruxelles ... tant que je n'en aurai pas trouvé de meilleur!
La photo ci-contre est très appétissante et vous laisse imaginer la volupté de ces glaces.
Ici beaucoup de parfums dont quelques-uns plus inhabituels. Thé vert et sésame, tous deux délicieux même si thé vert n'a pas l'air d'être souvent choisi. (quand nous y avons été, le bac n'était même pas entamé alors que d'autres étaient plus que vides).
Les boules sont d'une taille normale ainsi que leur prix (1,3€). La glace est onctueuse (rien à voir avec Zizi), le goût intense. Plusieurs adresses à recommander car comme tout bon glacier, ils se sont agrandis.

Friday Bikeday

Dans le cadre de la Semaine de la Mobilité du 16 au 22 septembre 2009 et le projet Friday Bikeday, il aura demain matin, vendredi 18 septembre, un petit déjeuner gratuit pour tous ceux qui se rendent à l'école et au boulot en vélo. Ce sera certainement sympa - venez nombreux, entre 7h30 et 9h30, à la Place Saint-Jean (centre-ville) et au Parc du Cinquantenaire (côté Mérode) !

Si cela est trop tôt pour vous (ou trop tard, si vous ne me lisez plus ce soir), il y a encore plein d'autres activité ce dimanche - sans voitures !

L'idée de Friday Bikeday est très chouette aussi - laisser sa voiture au garage un jour de la semaine.

Magasin d'occasions

Depuis toujours, je suis fort consciente des problèmes de notre planète. Mais jusqu'ici mes efforts s'étaient concentrés sur l'énergie: chauffage, transports, ...
Je n'avais jamais acheté de vêtements d'occasion. (même si ma mère astucieuse nous a trouvé en son temps plein de vêtements déjà portés)
Pourquoi?

Parce que je ne savais pas où aller?
Parce que j'avais peur?
Parce je ne savais pas comment chercher?
Parce que j'ai l'argent pour des vêtements neufs?

Milles raisons, mais finalement je les ai éliminées. J'ai fait des recherches sur internet, nombreuses et j'ai petit à petit trouvé des boutiques. J'y ai été avec ma sœur, testeuse de premier plan pour me donner du courage. Et j'ai dépassé mes aprioris en pensant qu'après tout ces vêtements sont souvent de meilleure qualité et mieux confectionnés. Ils ont déjà été produits, donc pas de pollution supplémentaire. Je peux me permettre plus d'achats.
Enfin, j'ai utilisé un outil très utile que je mets à votre disposition: une carte googlemap.
Je n'ai pas encore l'habitude de ce site et je ne suis donc pas sûre que toutes les adresses apparaissent correctement, mais ça viendra.
En attendant les descriptions de magasins, n'hésitez à commentez la carte et à me donner des adresses qui n'y figurent pas.

Le glacier Zizi

Ce glacier, j'en ai entendu parler depuis toujours. Pourtant, je n'y avais jamais été parce que ce n'était pas sur mon chemin. Mais bien décidée à goûter ses glaces, j'y ai été tout spécialement. J'ai pris une glace craccantino-straciatella, comme toujours très classique. Ma sœur, par contre, aime les nouveautés et a goûté gingembre-nougat.
Par comparaison avec Australian et Capoue, ces glaces m'ont parues allégées. Moins crémeuses et plus givrées (comme si on y avait mis de l'eau). Elles sont servies très froides. La taille des boules est raisonnable, plus petites que chez Australian, elles sont tout à fait suffisantes et permettent d'être gourmande et d'en prendre deux. Au niveau des parfums, les miens étaient bons. Gingembre, j'ai trouvé cela assez surprenant et pas très dessert mais pas mauvais. J'imagine bien cela lors d'un repas pour mettre un peu d'originalité.
Les prix sont plutôt agréables. (1,2;2,2;3,3;4,4)
Bonne nouvelle, à quelques pas se trouve un autre glacier!

Vor kurzem habe ich meine Cousine in Berlin besucht und neben dem tollem Ampelmännchenshop (den es wohl kaum in Brüssel geben wird, aber wie wäre es mal mit einem Manneken-Pis-Shop, mit richtig interessanten Produkten?!) sind wir auch an einem Lush-Laden vorbeigekommen. Da habe ich mich gefragt, warum es den eigentlich immer noch nicht in Brüssel gibt (existiert immerhin seit 1995). Zwei Wochen später habe ich prompt einen neuen Laden entdeckt - Lush in der Rue des Fripiers 38 (ganz in der Nähe der Oper Monnaie)! Nicht alle Seifen würden mir gefallen, aber Porridge und Spice Cake haben es mir angetan. Die Seifen, Cremes, Shampoos, etc. von Lush riechen nicht nur gut, sind umwelt- und mitarbeiterfreundlich hergestellt, sondern werden auch nur in einem Papierchen eingepackt und nicht in schichtweise unnötigem Plastik - perfektes Konzept. Unbedingt probieren!

Je me demandais pourquoi il n'y avait toujours pas de magasin Lush à Bruxelles - sitôt pensé, sitôt tombée dessus ! Un nouveau magasin Lush a ouvert dans la Rue des Fripiers 38. J'ai adoré Porridge et Spice Cake, mais il y a bien d'autres produits à decouvrir. Ca sent bon et c'est bon pour homme et nature - a tester !

La promenade de l'ancien chemin de fer

Après de longs travaux, la promenade de l'ancien chemin de fer est enfin terminée. Elle s'étend de Stockel à désormais Delta (en passant par Demey). Cette promenade est située sur l'ancien tracé d'un chemin de fer. Elle a été réhabilitée pour la mobilité douce et des ponts, que je trouve très beau, ont été construits pour permettre un parcours tranquille loin des voitures.
Une fois partis en promenade, vous apprécierez le cadre, très naturel, qui vous fait oublier la ville qui vous entoure.
J'envie les gens qui l'ont sur le chemin du travail. Se déplacer à vélo devient un vrai plaisir: environnement calme et pas une seule montée! Seul bémol: le revêtement qui est assez abimé, ce qui à vélo dérange assez.
Au passage, admirez la sculpture Daniel Steenhaut qui rappelle le passé du lieu.

Bad hair day?

Where do you go when you need to cut your hair (or change your hairstyle?)? In Brussels, I try to avoid the most expensive saloons (I could never pay 250 euros for a hairdresser!), and have gone to the same one for two years now. It's the Olivier Dachkin hair saloon near the Westland Shopping Center. My reasons? It's open early, and it's on my way to work. They haven't messed with my hair so far, so I keep on going there. My sister hates Olivier Dachkin, though, and so do some of my female coworkers. They say their saloons often change their hairdressers, and you never know if you will get a good or a bad one. Besides, they say they prefer to have the same one, as they like to talk when they get their hair done. One of my coworkers admits that it can ruin her day if her hair are messed. And she tried several hairdressers all dispointing. Until she found her happiness at Tony & Guy. I always though this chain was expensive, but she told me that not. It depends if you want your hair cut by a "designer" or not. Plus, this month, they offer 20% off your cut (take a look at their website). But she's quite daring with her hair, it's not my case.

In case you didn't notice, there's a Dali exhibition held right now near the Grand Place. It runs until the end of August. I don't know what it's worth, I just hope the entrance costs less than the one for the Theatre Museum at Figueres. I just came back from there. The museum was marvelous. But at 11 euros the entrance, I was a little bit disappointed.
Apparently, this exhibition shows the 80 caprices of Goya revisited by Dali, plus a series of rare paintings. You can't see the soft clocks or the elephants paintings which are the most famous artwork of the painter. At least, this is what I think.
I don't know why there is so much publicity around Dali right now. Maybe it is linked with the release of the autobiographical movie starring Robert Pattinson (the sexy vampire of Twilight).
But an exhibition of a surrealist painter in the land of surrealism that is Belgium can't be a bad assocation.

Vegetal City

Cette après-midi, nous avons profité du splendide soleil pour aller en vélo voir l'exposition "Vegetal City" au Musée du Cinquantenaire. Nous sommes arrivés vers 14h3O et sommes partis poussés par les gardiens à 17h00. Je crois que c'est l'exposition que j'ai préférée entre toutes celles que j'ai déjà vu.
Cette exposition qui dure du 3 avril au 30 août est "la vision d'un futur durable de Luc Schuiten". Celui-ci est un architecte utopiste ou réaliste selon les points de vue. Il imagine des cités idéales, des moyens de locomotion et propose des projets de réaménagements de chancres urbains. Ce qui est génial, en dehors de la qualité de son travail, c'est que comme il est Bruxellois, vous pouvez reconnaître les rues dans lesquelles vous vous promenez et imaginez ce que pourrait être le monde de demain.
Je m'intéresse énormément à l'écologie et comme vous l'avez peut-être compris, son travail s'appuie sur le respect de la nature, l'adéquation avec celle-ci et l'utilisation rationnelle de l'énergie. Il a compris que l'on ne pouvait plus continuer à vivre comme on le fait actuellement et imagine toute une série de solutions. Parfois, il est clairement dans son rêve mais à d'autre moment, je me plais à imaginer que c'est tout à fait faisable. D'ailleurs, un de ses projets a été réalisé et un autre a obtenu un permis d'urbanisme.
Lui-même vit dans une maison en plein coeur de la forêt où il a su utiliser tout ce que lui propose la nature.
Il s'intéresse également au biomimétisme, science qui observe la nature pour copier ses nombreuses découvertes. (toiles d'araignées, lotus, ...)

Bongo, je ne t'aime plus? - Tout au contraire, un Bongo c'est un super cadeau pour des amoureux ! (Mais aussi les enfants, les mamies et papies, les ami(e)s, ...)

For our wedding we had received, among other very nice presents, a Bongo voucher "Brasserie" and yesterday night, we finally decided to make use of it.

First of all, a Bongo, what's that?! Well, it's a collection of vouchers for all sorts of activities (food, relaxation, travel, kids, ...) and make a great present for more or less everybody. There's expensive ones, but also ones you can afford easily. You'll (or the person you give the Bongo to) get a booklet with all the addresses you can use your voucher at, giving a description of the place and activity, and detailing what you'll get exactly.

My dad received one last year for a wine-tasting. So we went to a small wine depot together with my mom and could try a number (4, if I remember correctly) of wines from Southern France.

Yesterday night, my husband (I'm still not used to that very special title...) and I went to the Atrium, a lounge-bar-restaurant at SAS Radisson in the city centre. The atmosphere was nice, we had much fun watching the fishes in their little pond, and my meal was quite nice. My sweatheart enjoyed his meal a little less, and found it a bit disappointing with regard to the price (35,- for a 3-course meal, of which we only could choose 2 with our Bongo). Drinks had to be paid extra, and well, as one would expect at such a hotel, were quite high-prized.

Overall, we very much enjoyed this present anyhow, it allows for a little luxury... ;-)

Zur Hochzeit hatten wir einen Bongo-Geschenkbon bekommen, den wir gestern Abend endlich eingelöst haben. Ein Bongo, was ist das denn bitte? Ganz einfach, ein Geschenkbon für einen Besuch im Restaurant, ein Spa-Wochenende, einen Ballonflug, ..., erhältlich in allen Preiskategorien. Man bekommt ein Heftchen mit Beschreibungen der Angebote und kann sich eines aussuchen - so wie wir gestern das Restaurant Atrium im SAS Radisson. Das Essen war gut, wenn auch vielleicht nicht außergewöhnlich, aber es vor allem Spass gemacht, sich einen Ort aussuchen zu dürfen, wo man sich ein bisschen verwöhnen lassen kann... Der Bongo ist echt zu empfehlen!

Lunatic ??

Saying goes that women often are a little lunatic when they have their period - I would pretend that that's not true in my case, but you'll probably better ask my man... ;-) Oh well, ok, I admit, I cry easily when it's my time of the month...

I recently discovered a small something, though, that makes me very happy when it's that time again: the Moon Cup (or Diva Cup). This cup is a replacement for tampons and can be used for 10 years! It's very comfortable and discrete and you only need to rince it instead of throwing it away. And it also will make your purse and Mother Earth happy!

The only difficulty: Finding the Moon Cup in Brussels... Of course, you can order it on the internet. I preferred getting mine 'for real' and went to Les Choux Verts, an adorable baby and maternity shop close to Place Fernand Cocq.

On dit que les femmes sont un peu lunatiques quand elles ont leurs ragnagnas - ce qui n'est certainement pas mon cas... enfin, demandez à mon homme... Depuis peu, pourtant, on peu dire que j'adhére au 'lunatisme' quand j'ai ma période: j'utilise la Moon Cup (existe aussi sous le nom de Diva Cup) et j'adore ! C'est simple, c'est propre, et ca peut s'utiliser pendant 10 ans. Il suffit de le rincer, on ne produit plus des déchets inutiles comme avec les tampons... Ca s'achète sur le net ou chez Les Choux Verts.

Krise, Krise, Krise - man hört von nichts Anderem mehr reden! Bankrupte Banken, Rettungspläne und Arbeitslosigkeit, ganz schön deprimierend das Ganze!

Es gibt allerdings eine Bank, die keine Krise kennt: Triodos Bank.

Triodos bietet leider kein einfaches Sichtkonto an, dafür aber Sparkonten. Euer Geld wird nicht zu irgendwelchen ominösen Spekulationszwecken verwendet, sondern dient dazu, sozial- und umweltverantwortlichen Firmen Kredite zur Verfügung zu stellen.

Mein Vorhaben diesen Monat: mein Sparkonto und das Juniorkonto, das ich für meinen Neffen angelegt habe, zu Triodos zu verlegen. Da nutzt mein Erspartes wenigstens! Und die Kontoeröffnung ist umsonst.

Ah, da fühlt man sich doch gleich viel besser!

Une de mes collègues m'a fait découvrir un salon de coiffure et de beauté 'au naturel': produits naturels pour la teinture et huiles essentielles. Marianne Gray propose également des soins du corps et du visage et des épilations. Les prix pour les coiffures ne sont pas des plus bas (mais bon, faut dire que je ne vais pas très souvent chez le coiffeur et que j'ai donc toujours l'habitude des prix étudiants...), mais notamment les prix pour les épilations me paraissent plus que correctes.

C'est la 30ème édition! Cette année les inscriptions ont été bouclés en une heure. (après les inscriptions prioritaires)
25000 coureurs vont cette année encore déferler sur la capitale dimanche 31 mai. Soyez-là pour les encourager, ça fait toujours plaisir.
Vous verrez, même au bord de la route il y a de l'ambiance.

Ladies Run

Ce 3 mai, j'ai participé à la première édition du ladies run. Vous vous en doutez, c'est une course réservée aux filles. Parce que beaucoup de femmes n'ont pas le temps, l'argent ou la motivation pour se mettre au sport. Et quoi de mieux que de courir? Une bonne paire de basket (important) et c'est parti!
Cette course était une course d'ambiance, et il y en avait. Les plus jeunes sont parties à 11h pour 2,5km suivies des plus âgées à 11h30. On pouvait choisir sa distance: 5 ou 10 km. Le but visé? Faire courir le plus de monde. Il y avait clairement des débutantes, mais elles y sont arrivés et c'était le but. Plusieurs challenges étaient proposés: seule, entre amies ou mère-fille. C'est à ce dernier que j'ai participé.
La course s'est déroulée dans le bois de la Cambre. Il fallait faire la boucle de 2,5 km une, deux ou quatre fois selon la distance choisie.
Les + de cette course:

L'organisation: ravitaillement tous les 2,5 km, un T-shirt Nike pour chaque participante, un sac cadeau à l'arrivée (Elle Belgique, Mon sport, un gel douche, un spray fixant pour les cheveux, du chocolat Newtree, ... : que des bonnes choses), une remise des prix (mais j'étais partie avant), un petit-déjeuner (auquel je n'ai pas participé, la course commençant à 11h30), un échauffement en commun, ...
L'ambiance: des ballons blancs et roses le long du chemin, des encouragements, pleins de filles (rien que ça, ça change des 20km), le T-shirt commun qui fait esprit de groupe, des jembés, ...

Les - de cette course:

Le prix: 15€: mais il semble justifié.

Mon avis: j'y participerai à nouveau l'année prochaine. Cette année, il y avait 850 participantes, parions que nous seront plus nombreuses l'année prochaine! (je mettrai un petit mot sur le blog)

Il semble que c'est la saison... Une amie à moi s'est mariée vendredi, et je vais la voir cette semaine pour qu'elle me raconte tout dans le détail. :-D Alors, pour participer à son bonheur, je lui ai trouvé un petit quelque chose qui, je l'espère, lui fera plaisir.
Pas facile ! Heureusement qu'il y a Oxfam (ah, vous saviez déjà que j'en étais une adepte) qui propose des superbes cadeaux - sur internet ! Oui, Oxfam s'emballe. Alors, comment ca marche ? Vous choisissez un petit cadeau dans une des catégories du prix ou de cause, vous le payez avec votre carte de crédit ou par virement, et vous recevrez quelques jours plus tard le 'cadeau' et une petite carte chez vous - il suffit alors d'aller les offrir ;-)
Mais c'est quoi comme cadeaux ? Eh ben, c'est original. Une chèvre par exemple. Ou des lapins. Ou une vache. Ou un lavabo. Et comment ca rentre dans notre boîte à lettres ?! Aha, voici le 'truc': Ca ne rentre pas ! L'argent va à des projets humanitaires et sociaux qui ont justement besoin d'une chèvre ou d'un lavabo. Ou d'un kit de viol, même si c'est moins beau à offrir peut-être. Et vous n'en aurez qu'une petite photo.
Mais franchement, ca vaut mille fois mieux que d'encombrer les gens avec des trucs dont ils n'ont pas besoin... Alors, au prochain mariage, pensez-y !

PS.: Pour tout vous dire, je suis aussi passée au 'vrai' Oxfam et j'ai acheté à mon amie un autre petit quelque chose, et j'espère qu'elle aimera ca cadeau aussi !

Trying to eat your 5 fruits & vegetables per day? Trying to buy organic, local, seasonal food? Trying to avoid unnecessary packaging? Then I would recommend you either go to your local market (and ask where the fruit and vegetable come from) or order your vegetables with Julienne. Take a look at their webpage and find your local depot - mine's close to Diamant, at BioLogic, Avenue de Roodebeek 143, 1030 Schaarbeek. You order your selection (big or small basket, fruit or vegetables or mixed) a few days in advance and pick it up the given day - and be surprised by what's in there! Today I found leek, mushrooms, salad, carots and spinach, miam!

Jeden Tag 5 Sorten Obst und Gemüse essen? Lokales Bio- und Saisongemüse kaufen? Versuchen, unnötige Verpackungen zu vermeiden? Ist doch alles gar nicht so schwierig - entweder man geht auf dem Wochenmarkt einkaufen (und fragt brav nach, wo denn die Sachen herkommen) oder bestellt bei Julienne. Man bestellt ein paar Tage im Voraus (große oder kleine Portion, Obst und/oder Gemüse) und holt es bei seinem Lieblings-Bioladen ab (Adressen siehe Webseite) - meiner ist BioLogic, Avenue de Roodebeek 143, 1030 Schaarbeek (bei Diamant). Dann schaut man in seine Papiertüte und freut sich über das, was man so bekommt - heute Lauch, Pilze, Salat, Möhren und Spinat. Miam!

Aujourd'hui et demain, le BOZAR propose le festival Balkan trafic, un festival de musique rom et juive. Je n'ai pas encore été, mais une de mes copines est tout feu tout flamme pour cet événement. Alors, un petit voyage musical, filmique et culturel, ca vous tente ?!

Heute und morgen findet im BOZAR das Balkan trafik-Festival statt. Ich war noch nicht da, aber eine Freundin von mir ist Feuer und Flamme für dieses Festival mit jüdischer und Zigeuner-Musik, -Filmen und anderen Aktivitäten.

Und wenn ihr euch wundert, warum das BOZAR so heißt wie es heißt: "Palais des Beaux-Arts / Palais voor schone kunsten" klang einfach nicht mehr stylish-dynamisch-jung genug, also hat sich irgendwer den schönen Namen BOZAR ausgedacht - und seitdem jammern die Flamen, dass das immer noch zu Französisch klingt, und die Wallonen, dass das Wort zu Flämisch aussieht... So ist das, wenn man's allen Recht machen will ;-) Aber gute Musik und Ausstellungen bieten sie immer noch an!

Igår kväll hade jag jättekul! En väninna föreslog att gå på konseren i gamalt tåg stationJazz Station som befinner sig i Saint-Josse, inte langt bort från Place Saint-Josse. Vi fick lyssna på Steven Delannoye Trio, en grupp unga jazz musiker från Flandern.
På Jazz Station kan du lyssna på konsert varje onsdag (20h30), torsdag (20h30) och lördag (18h00). Det är bra att vara där lite innan för stället är mycket populärt.

Le délirium café

Le délirium café est peut-être un des bars aussi connus des touristes que des belges. A quelques pas de la grand place, sa spécificité est de proposer un large choix de bières. Large, oui, mais large comment? 2000 bières! Situé dans une petite rue où se trouve la Jeannekepis, ce bar est un très grand bar sur deux étages. Dans les caves, vous trouverez la carte de 30 bières et si vous les avez déjà toutes goutées demandez celle de 2000. Sinon, pour des bières simples, vous pouvez aller au bar de l'étage. Il y a de l'espace, pratique quand on vient fêter quelque chose avec beaucoup d'amis. Les prix sont un peu plus chers que la moyenne, mais ça vaut la peine de temps en temps.

Ferme Holleken Hoeve

Wie ihr wisst, hat am letzten Wochenende in Brüssel ein besonders wichtiger Termin stattgefunden - meine Hochzeit!
Ich kann euch sagen, die ganze Organisation war nicht so einfach, aber das Allerschwierigste war wohl, den richtigen Saal zu finden. Nicht zu gross, nicht zu klein, nicht zu teuer, nicht zu heruntergekommen, kurz gesagt, es musste einfach passen.
Nach einer aufreibenden Suche und viel Herumtelefoniererei, enttäuschenden Besuchen, und Besitzern/Verwaltern, die sich einfach zu gut sind, auf hinterlassene Botschaften zu reagieren, haben wir dann endlich 'unseren' Saal gefunden: Die Ferme Holleken / Holleken Hoeve
Holleken gehört zu Linkebeek, und liegt ein bisschen südlich von Brüssel. Die Ferme hat einen großen und kleinen Festsaal, sowie einen Ausstellungsraum und eine Ludothek (1. Etage). Der kleine Saal ist nichts Besonderes, aber der Große ist sehr schön: Backsteinwände, dunkles Parkett, und das alte Gebälk obendrüber. Man kann die Säle mieten für Hochzeiten, Geburtstage, Auftritte, sonstige Events - Telefonnummern auf der Webseite.

Achso, ihr wollt noch was über die Hochzeit hören? Wun-der-schön...

Where can you buy in Brussels (and in Genval too) clothes from Talking French, Essentiel, Tara Jarmon, Ralph Lauren, Pauline B, ... for half the normal price? In Cameleon, comptoir privé. As the name indicates it, this place is reserved only for its members. If you want to become one, you've got to be sponsored by an existing member (I can do that, leave me an email if you want ;). Once you're granted the access, you can only shop there during definite dates, you will receive an invitation for each sale. Don't imitate me, who, for the first time there, forgot the invitation, and had to go back home empty handed because of that. On the invitation, there's the code that will allow you to buy all your clothes, shoes, decoration,...
There are two shops located in Brussels, one in Meiser, the other one in Ixelles. Unfortunately, the membership you will receive only allows you for one fixed place. I don't think they let you swap shops, because you have to choose it when you fill in the membership application.

Passed all those hurdles, you can really make some interesting purchases there. I bought earlier this month, during the first days of the sales, a Tara Jarmon vest for just 50 euros (original price: 259 EUR). I also found there a lovely evening dress, from Talking French, that costed me only 30 euros. My man also buys there loads of trousers, shirts, jumpers,... from Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Bellerose,... half the normal price.

Oh, and during the sales, go there at the opening. Because when I got there this month, I spent one hour just for the queue, and we were parked very far the shop. There was a heavy traffic jam around it.

I ended 2008 completely exhausted. I hope it wasn't the case for you. So, I decided to treat myself with a massage. I went to Spasiba, as one of my colleagues recommended it to me. Located on the posh Boulevard de Waterloo, where I would probably never buy anything there (too expensive), this place is quite interesting if you want to have a zen moment. They ask you to come 30 minutes before your massage so you can benefit from the sauna and the hammam there.
But for reaching a zen moment, you need to know a few things about this place. Firstly, they ask you to undress, wear a bathrobe and a disposable thong, which never fits you. I realized when I was there that some women don't bother to wear this last item. And some men too. Yes, because it's a place for both men and women. Which means you have to share the sauna and the hammam. Almost naked...
Unfortunately for me, I got out of the sauna just when an old man got out of the shower, just in front of me. I didn't say anything, but I know some of my friends would have screamed in a situation like that.
Maybe next time, I will take with me my bikini. I had previously done a spa like this, but in France. And there, I could enjoy the hammam with one of my friends wearing a bikini. They just asked us to put it off before the massage and wear instead the infamous disposable thong. But I don't think they accept that in Spasiba. Besides, in France, the hammam was separated by a closed door, where you can change your bikini, where in Spasiba, it isn't the case.
Apart from that, the massage was really pleasant.
I also regret that the relaxing room counts only two meridians. If you're not lucky enough, you end up relaxing on a chair not so comfortable.

Russische Weihnachtskugeln

Bald ist es schon wieder so weit... Weihnachten nähert sich mit großen Schritten!

Neben Geschenke kaufen, Plätzchenbacken, Betriebsfeier, usw. gibt es im Dezember immer viel zu tun...

Am Sonntag 30. November bin ich beim Adventsbasar, am Freitag 5. Dezember beim Nikolauskonzert, am Fr./Sa./So. 12., 13. und 14. (na, wohl nur 1mal...) im Weihnachtsdorf, und kurz vor Weihnachten schau' ich dann noch beim Weihnachtsmarkt in Brüssel, Aachen oder Köln vorbei...

Enquêt sur l'élargissement du ring

Bonjour à tous,
Vous avez peut-être entendu parler de projet d'élargissement du ring de bruxelles.
Ce projet est soumis à une enquête publique. Vous êtes pour ou contre, faites-le savoir.

Voici quelques arguments (trouvés sur le site de la commune d'Evere) qui me semblent très pertinents pour dire non à ce projet.

L’absence d’études d’alternatives possibles pour résoudre la congestion automobile et de prise en compte de l’effet d’aspiration (augmentation de la circulation automobile) que l’élargissement du Ring ne manquera pas d’avoir,
Qu’il n’est pas tenu compte de points essentiels tels que l’impact sur les objectifs climatiques et les engagements de Kyoto, l’augmentation de la pollution atmosphérique, la qualité de vie des habitants, etc.,
Que ce projet ne répond pas durablement aux problèmes de mobilité et qu’il augmentera au contraire la congestion de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale.

Et dans quelques années, les sociétés pourront proposer à leurs employés la carte hypermobile à la place d'une voiture de société, qui donne accès à tous les réseaux de transports en communs. (tec, stib, sncb, de lijn, thalys, ...)
Alors pourquoi élargir le ring? Pour recommencer dans 20 ans ?

Gosh, Frauke, what am I writing because of you?

Where can you find a nice wedding gown for nothing in Brussels? I would say two addresses: les enfants d'Edouard and les petits riens, yes, les petits riens. One of my friends, who's occasionally trying to let her creativity express in her clothes, like this adress a lot because she can find fabrics of all kinds and some clothes very inspiring. I've been there once, a long time ago, and I think they had wedding dresses. It's just that you have to arm yourself with patience, and rummage among the pile of clothes laying there. Or, maybe they have decided to sort them at last, but I'm not making any pronostic on this.

For the enfants d'Edouard, I don't know. Again, it's one of my friends who's an aficionados of this place, who has given me a brief description of it. I haven't got the opportunity to investigate on this (and right now, I'm a little bit overwhelmed by my job), so I can't tell you if it's a really good address, but my friends says that yes. And I don't know if their dresses are cheap...

These two addresses are for second hand dresses. Personally, if I get married (not a great probability), I would choose that option because I think it's not that sustainable and ecologic to buy a dress you would only wear once. I don't care if someone has already worn it before me.

But if you do care, maybe Peau d'âne should offer a solution. Here, a tailor can help you out.

Otherwise, if you don't give a damn about the price you would pay for your princess wedding (ahum), Valens (?) , just nearby Natan at the Avenue Louise, is a great, great, great address.

This Saturday I had quite a bit of shopping to do - the first X-mas present, stuff for the household and some nice underwear... for my wedding!
Yes, here you go, big news, my sweetheart and I finally get married! The mariage will take place end of January here in Brussels, and of course I'm all exited... :-D
But well, that's not what I was trying to tell you. As we don't have the biggest of budgets, we're trying to keep everything simple. But I just had to get new underwear (if I write l*nger*e, then this blog will suddenly become veeeeery popular...), can you image the bride wear some old used stuff on 'her' big day?! Nonono.
So, the question was: where to find something nice, special, and not ruin us completely?! I went for Dod's, Rue du Bailli, and found something! Well, I think I will have to make an effort to get my backside a bit firmer until January...

Still, I recommend Dod more for single pieces, as it is really hard to find the correct sizes for both the top and bottom bit...
And could someone please explain me, why, WHY?? every brand has their own sizing?! Different cup shapes, ok, but WHY don't A's and B's and C's of all those brands size differently? What's the point then to mark a size??

Well, anyway, one more item to tick of that to-do-list...

*Sachant que je suis une écolo convaincue qui utilise plus que régulièrement les transports en commun.
*Sachant que la météo annonce ceci pour lundi avec une fiabilité moyenne: A l'arrière d'une perturbation s'évacuant par l'est du pays, de brèves éclaircies alterneront avec des champs nuageux, quelquefois à la source d'une faible averse. Le vent s'affaiblira et les températures seront en légère hausse.
*Sachant que la nouvelle qui va suivre ne va plaire à personne
*Sachant que le droit de grève a été durement acquis par nos ancêtres.

Bon, j'aurai mis le plus de précautions pour vous annoncer que lundi tous les bruxellois vont pouvoir (choisir parmi les options suivantes) :

Tenter de prendre leur voiture, ils seront bloqués quelques mètres plus loin, les utilisateurs de la STIB étant momentanément obligés de polluer
Enfourcher son vélo et pédaler pendant plus d'une heure (aller)
Faire comme si son réveil n'avait pas sonné, et puis, aussi, comme si son front était un peu chaud
Faire du covoiturage et se retrouver dans la même situation qu'au point 1. Les autres usagers n'ont pas pensé comme vous.
Prendre le train, en espérant qu'il y en ait.
Utiliser les transports en commun

Une mauvaise proposition se cache parmi les autres, saurez-vous la retrouver?
Donc grève général de 24h de la STIB pour la pouvoir d'achat ce lundi 6 octobre. Vu l'état de notre système bancaire, je trouve que ce n'est pas le moment de la ramener. Je râle, je râle, je râle. A quand le service minimum?

If you're a sweet tooth, there there is one activité you can not miss in october: the Feest van confituur honing & chocolade on 11 october at Place-St-Lambert! Apparently, you can get all sorts of marmelade there, honeys and other honey-products (vinegar and mostard for example), fruit juices, chocolates etc. There'll also be a coffeehouse where you can take a seat and try some nice cakes and enjoy a cup of tea. Sounds like a good place to be!

Vous habitez dans un quartier à faible fréquentation de bus? Vous cherchez une alternative à la voiture? Vous allez au travail en voiture (et vous avez pitié de ces pauvres piétons qui marchent sous la pluie)? Vous êtes sympathique, gentil, admirable?

Alors le vap est fait pour vous!
Mais qu'est-ce que le vap? Vap: Voiture à partagée ou Vriendelijk anders pendelen. C'est un système gratuit, écologique et sympathique de se déplacer. Les Vappeurs font partie d'une "communautée" d'entraide à la mobilité. C'est à dire, les automobilistes prennent en chemin les piétons. Et les piétons montent dans leur voiture.

Pour plus de sécurité, il faut s'inscrire. Une fois inscrit, vous recevez une carte de vappeur que vous placez en évidence sur votre pare-brise. Le piéton le tiendra en évidence quand il voudra se faire vapper. Le piétion indique à l'aide d'une petite pancarte, la destination qu'il souhaite atteindre. Dans certaines communes, il y a des "points vap", où les vappeurs peuvent attendre.

Ce système en est à ses débuts, mais avec l'augmentation du pétrole et la sensibilisation à l'écologie, il ne pourra que prendre de l'ampleur. Inscrivez-vous et parlez-en autour de vous, chaque jours il y a de nouveaux inscrits.
Le réseau est surtout présent à Watermael-Boitsfort et Auderghem mais il s'étend.

Doing it for the kids

If you want to spend a pleasant day with children (yours, or your nephews/nieces,...), why don't you try the Musée des enfants? Located in Ixelles, this museum is quite intriguing and proposes to the children to discover various disciplines such as science, art, theater, geography,.... One of my colleagues often goes there with her kid, and she told me this place suits for almost every child, no matter how old he/she is.

When you finish the visit of this particular museum, you can bring your children to eat just nearby, at the Balmoral. As my colleague says, this restaurant is one of the few in Brussels where you can bring your child and let him/her play/scream/ run without bothering the other customers and the waiters. This place is quite unique too, because the decorum reminds you of an old American café, with colorful walls, seats and tables. You just dive back into the 50's. What can you eat there? Well, what you can find on an American menu: cheeseburger, spare ribs, milkshake,... Food for the kids...

I finally found my happiness at Bocacci. Thanks a lot Julie for giving me this address. I need to do a little more investigation at Kusje, when my bank account will allow me to satisfy my shoe addiction again. Sorry if I can't put the picture of my precious little Chie Mihara right now, but my camera is letting me down.

There are still plenty of shoes from that brand but also from Miss Ash, Janet & Janet,... at Bocacci right now, still on sale. This is why I found my treasure there for half of the normal price of a pair of Chie Mihara. Ok, they don't have all the size. But it's possible to find your happiness there.

Just around the corner of Bocacci , there's another shoe shop located on the Rue Simonis: Degrif Shoes (at the n°49). I took a quick glance there just by curiosity, and there were also some interesting pairs of shoes. This is The address if you want to buy a pair of Tod's, Sonia Rykiel, Prada,... at a much more reasonable price than the normal one.

Bocacci is located on the 74, rue du Bailli at Ixelles. This street is considered as a good address for shoe shopping in Brussels.

Do you like to go to the cinema? I used to see a lot of movies when I was a student, but now, I don't go so much to the theater. In Brussels, depending on the type of movie you want to watch, there are quite a lot of options for you. If you like the big blockbuster movies, then you have to go to the Kinepolis/UGC. If you like more intimate films, there's the Arenberg galerie and the Actor's Studio.

Personally, I hate going to the Kinepolis and the UGC De Brouckère, for the simple reason that you're never sure to watch your movie without an incident. The last time I went to the UGC at De Brouckère, a fight started in the room between two groups of teenagers. I prefer going to the UGC Toison d'Or, and the more intimate cinema like the Arenberg. One of my friends told me that he finds quite odd the fact that most of the film broadcasted there often consist of plenty of sex scenes. I remember once going to the Arenberg to see a film (I can't remember the name of it) where there was two gays always overlapped and the lady sitting next to me, an old woman wearing fur and lots of jewelry, was constantly muttering to her man how shocking it was. It may have been shocking, but she still managed to remain during almost half of the film...

Oh, and if you're a fan of popcorn and sodas when you go to the movie, meditate on this. One of my colleagues used to serve at the Kinepolis, and she told me they didn't clean properly their machines, so you could find fossilized flies in the ice and rats in the popcorn machines.

I was invited two weeks ago to a professional lunch, and the restaurant my contact chose was Vini Divini. Located in the rue du Berger, not far from the Bastion building on the Chaussée d'Ixelles, this restaurant is apparently the place to be if you want to eat a good and typical Italian food. My contact, who's Italian, told me every Italian in the city knows this place.

I really enjoyed spending my lunch there, even if it was for an interview. Inside, it's really tiny. There's only four tables, and you can eat at the bar, just in front of the cook. The kitchen is close to all the tables. You're surrounded by shelved full of bottles of wine and various spices. You feel like if you were in the kitchen of a house, not in a restaurant. I like this atmosphere.

My contact told me that they don't accept visa, because they don't have any visa terminal in the restaurant. So, he has a technique: he sends on a regular basis some money to their checking account, and each time he comes to eat, they deducted the bill from his notes.
Oh, and the food is really good, very refined, and not expensive at all.

I just received a letter from the STIB/MIVB, asking me to renew my yearly ticket. They propose to use the new MOBIB card, and I wonder whether I want to - or do I have to ?!
Does any of you have such a card, does it work correctly ? Can one validate it when rushing down the metro, even if the card is somewhere in my big bag full with other 'brol' ?

Es geht mal wieder um Schokolade, aber diesmal habe ich einen richtig guten Grund: Ich kann nämlich Schoki gewinnen!
Mein Cousin Jan hat einen Schoko-Blog, auf dem er und eine Freundin alle möglichen und unmöglichen Sorten Schokolade vorstellen. Während der Fussball-EM haben sie Schoko aus den unterschiedlichen Ländern getestet - und haben Schokolade jetzt scheinbar so satt, dass sie ihre Reste verlosen.
Teilnahmebedingung: Auf seinem eigenen Blog eine ihrer Spezialitäten vorstellen.
Ich habe mir die Dunkle Milchschokolade mit Rosen, Basilikum und Schokolade “Grosza Mesia S.” (8) von Zotter rausgepickt - aber die Wahl ist mir nicht leichtgefallen! Leider habe ich nicht mehr die Zeit, sie zu testen (Teilnahmeschluss ist am 20.07.), aber mein Lieblings-Chocolatier hat sehr gute dunkle Pralinen mit feinem Basilikumaroma (alles natürlich, nur feinste Zutaten!). In der Zotter-Schokolade steckt nicht nur Basilikum, sondern auch Marzipan, das ich auch sehr mag. Rosenaroma, ich weiß nicht - ich muss wohl doch noch welche bestellen...

In Brussels, I personally think that we lack good shops for shoe shopping. Either you go for the main chain stores like Avance, Shoes in the Box, Maniet, ... or for the brands sold in retail stores like Inno, or you have to pick the expensive shops you find on the Avenue Louise. I've finally stopped my quest for an original and comfortable shoe during this period of sales. I know I will never find them in here.

Why don't we have Minelli, Jonak, and the other brands sold in Paris? These are as expensive (or cheap, it's a question of point of view) as those we can find in the Avance shops, and they are much more thrilling. One of my colleagues just got back from the city of lights, and she told me she finally found the pair of shoes she was looking for for years: a pair of salomé. She said that here in Brussels, it's impossible to find that kind of model, at a decent price.

So, tell me, where do you buy your shoes?

I rely on the Internet for finding mine. I recently bought the one above (the same Carrie Bradshaw wore in the Sex and the City Movie). Yes, I know, I'm crazy, but I fell in love with them...

Seit Freitag sind die Umbauarbeiten in der Porte de Hal offiziell beendet, und der ehemalige Schutzturm wiedereröffnet. Er beherbergt jetzt eine permanente Austellung über die Entwicklung der Stadt und ihrer Stadtmauern. Und wenn ihr einen kleinen Ritter zu Hause habt: Es gibt sogar eine Rüstung zum Anprobieren ;-)
Außerdem gibt es auch temporäre Ausstellungen - haltet die Augen offen!
Man kann auch bis oben hin klettern (immer schön rund in der Wendeltreppe...) und hat einen prima Blick über Brüssel.
Noch weiter oben, unter'm Dach juch-he, ist ein kleiner Konzertsall, und wir hatten gestern das Glück, uns klassische brasilianische Musik anzuhören - den gewohnten Samba-Klängen gar nicht ähnlich. Und das alte Gebälk da oben ist einfach nur beeindruckend!
Jetzt im Juni gibt es ein paar besondere Aktivitäten, also nix wie hin!

Les 20 km de Bruxelles

Les 20 km de Bruxelles, ça devient petit à petit une institution, un évènement incontournable. Un évènement qui fait battre mon cœur. Pour la quatrième année consécutive, je vais m'élancer dimanche prochain, le 25 mai, à l'assaut de ma capitale avec autour de moi, 24 999 coureurs de tous âges. L'année passée, le nombre de participants avait atteint un sommet: 27 000. Mais c'était trop, à l'arrivée, un embouteillage humain m'a fait perdre à moi et à de nombreux autres coureurs de précieuses minutes. Cette année, les organisateurs ont ramené ce chiffre à 25 000 participants, ce qui reste un nombre impressionnant de joggeurs de toutes catégories. Les 20 km, ce n'est pas simplement des coureurs. C'est aussi une ambiance, des percussionnistes, des danseurs, des animations et surtout, un public. Des spectateurs nombreux et enthousiastes massés le long du parcours aident les participants à garder le moral et à affronter la chaleur, le macadam, la soif, et les montées. Le parcours, agréable, se termine en effet par la terrible avenue de Tervuren qui n'en finit pas de monter. Alors, si vous ne savez pas quoi faire dimanche en 8, venez avec le sourire et votre enthousiasme! On en aura besoin.

Opération dring dring

Cette semaine, du dimanche 18 mai au samedi 24, le vélo est à l'honneur. Partout à Bruxelles, l'ASBL Provélo organise l'opération dring dring. Une semaine remplie d'activités diverses tournant autour du vélo: balades accompagnées, fête du vélo, réparations, information, ... Et pour faire démarrer l'action, Bicycity: les cyclistes sont invités à prendre plus de place! Ce dimanche, ils se rejoindront à 14h30 sur le boulevard Albert II pour faire le tour de la petite ceinture jusqu'au parc du Cinquantenaire. Heureusement, selon la météo, il ne devrait pas pleuvoir même si le soleil ne sera pas au rendez-vous. Réfléchissez-y! Rouler sur le ring sans voitures, sans nuisances sonores, le bonheur. Pour plus d'information sur Bicycity, c'est ici. De plus, la bicyclette a de plus en plus de succès, les pistes cyclables se multiplient, et elle est devenue un objectif pour Bruxelles. Néanmoins, en tant que cycliste, je peux vous dire que beaucoup de chemin reste à faire. Et au plus on sera nombreux, au plus les automobilistes tiendront compte de notre présence.

La grande bouffe

This week-end, unfortunately under a grey sky and under the rain, the food lovers will have the occasion to eat for a good cause. For those who are already familiar with the concept, Lefooding is disembarking in Brussels on this Saturday and Sunday. Basically, it's the occasion to meet prestigious chefs, to discover their receipts and to fill with wonder. Nine chefs with a soul are proposing to let you live the cooking without any rules, and on top of that, all the profits they will make on these two days will be given to the Red Cross. Given what's happening right now in China and Myanmar, it's a really really great idea.

On Saturday will start the cooking lessons at Mmmmh!. And on Sunday, you can take your lunch, your afternoon tea and your dinner each for 5 euros only! The lunch will be held on the posh place Boniface in Ixelles (you can find the menu of what you will eat on the website of the event). The afternoon tea will be held at the Food academy, located on the Avenue Brugman. It will consist in variations around the Häagen Dazs ice cream (mmmmmmhhhh) . And the dinner will be held in the cafe Bota, located on the rue Royale.

Frauke, you won't have any excuse to feel blue now...

I was feeling a bit blue today because my sweetheart is travelling for 1 1/2 weeks - and after enjoying being on my own and doing what I please ;-) I get a bit sad...
Luckily I found a box of Wittamer chocolates I received at work in my fridge - and what's better to get a girl back on track than chocolate ??

And I must admit, Wittamer chocolates are ex-cel-lent ! Just opening the box made me feel like in heaven - by the way, that's what the cake on this picture is called...

Actually, I never went to eat in their café, but maybe I should - hopefully I feel blue again tomorrow ;-)

Food for thought

For those who like shopping at the Woluwe Shopping center, there's probably a building that has caught your eye when you just get out of the shopping center: the wolubilis. Located on the other side of the Avenue Paul Hymans, this new construction is a cultural center quite intriguing. Personally, I discovered it last year as I was invited in the Cook&Book restaurant by my former colleagues.

I really like this initiative, especially the Cook &Book section, because its aims to gather people and bring them to exchange their views around a book and a good meal. One of my former colleagues thinks it's a little posh and reserved to the Bollinger Bolsheviks, but I don't agree. As I love reading and eating, for me, this is a bit of an ideal place. Basically, you take whatever book you find in the bookshops (there are 9 of them, sorted by themes like cooking, travel, literature, children,..), and then sit down and eat on the table located nearby. You feel like you're in a library, with the exception that you can eat inside.
And it has also another advantage: it's just located nearby the Roodebeek metro station.

Currently, there's an exhibition at the Théâtre Marni from Denis Erroyaux. This photographer wanted to manifest against the use of the car in the city, hence the name of the exhibition: Automatique.
If you like thought provoking pictures, are against the use of the car or just want to see great photographs, then go for it. The exhibition will last until the 17th of May.
The last day of the exhibition, there will be a concert given by my friend Manu starting at 10:30 pm and then a party for those who like to dance. I hesitate to go there, but if you want to join me on this special event, then leave a comment or send me an email.

Un petit bijou dans le haut de Saint-Gilles!

Il s'agit du centre d'art contemporain pour la photographie à Bruxelles, installé dans un hôtel particulier Art Nouveau (Georges Hannon, 1903).
L'endroit est parfait pour une escapade hors du temps. Allez-y d'abord pour la maison, pour ses fresques aux couleurs très douces, ses mosaïques, ses vitraux, ses boiseries...Puis pour les expos photos, intimistes, et enfin pour la charmante micro librairie!
Contretype présente cinq expositions d'art contemporain par an. En ce moment: "Voyage en ex-URSS", dépaysant à souhait.
Pour les amoureux de l'Art Nouveau, l'espace Contretype est à deux minutes du musée Horta!

Raw like sushi

Do you like sushis? I do. One of my friends says that if you can swallow raw fish, then you're into oral s.. I'm not convinced by that... Because of my job, I get invited a lot in the multiple restaurants that counts Brussels. I have been invited many times to the japanese restaurants in the city each time that I had a lunch based on the Asian markets (how original), but once, one of my professional contacts, who's not Asian at all, brought me to the Samourai restaurant, and I think I have found the best place in the city to eat sushis since then. From the outside, the restaurant, located just near De Brouckère, isn't that appealing. Once you're inside, you are surprised by how tiny the room is, and that the decoration is quite similar to what you find in Japan, very minimalist, a little bit dark, and with lots of elements that remind you of the Asian country.

Why do they serve the best sushi? Well, usually, sushi as you can find in many Asian shops including the Sushi Factory are quite tasteless and you have to put some wasabi paste to heat it a bit. But there, there's no need to put that. The first time I bit into a sushi from Samourai, I had tears in my eyes because of the wasabi. And the man sitting in front of me thought it wasn't kicking enough, so he put even more of it on his sushi. After eating the first one, that sensation disappeared and I could appreciate my meal. Oh, and a little detail, they don't put forks on the table, but chopsticks. But if you can't use those and have two left hands like me, you can ask for a fork, they won't ask you to leave. And as every Japanese restaurant, it's not cheap.

I've taken the liberty of using this forum for something other than it's usually used for: to thank someone.

Having been away, me, my suitcase, rucksack with laptop and handbag all returned to Brussels. When I reached my apartment however, it was only the suitcase, the handbag and me who were still around. Rucksack with laptop? Still on the train.

So, should he ever read this: a big thank you to the Asian-looking tourist who sat next to me in the compartment, on the train from Zürich to Brussels via Strasbourg and Luxembourg, arriving on March 13th at 7.30 pm, and handed the bag in to the police!

Pas le courage pour une corvée de parc ? La télé a cramé à force d'utilisation intensive ? Vous séchez complètement pour occuper vos enfants ce week-end...
Ouf, l'Autoworld accueille les 8 et 9 mars 2008 le salon Little & Junior. Un très large éventail d'activités et de produits spécialement dédiés aux petits (et moins petits) sera présenté.

Tous les exposants ont le même objectif : créer pour les enfants un univers rassurant, à leur portée et éducatif, que ce soit par le biais d'ateliers cuisine ou de cours de gym, de livres, de jeux et jouets (pouêt), d'objets de décoration ou de vêtements.
Ces "créateurs de bonheur" proposeront des ateliers pour vous faire découvrir leur activité... Je parie que même les papas qui traînaient les pieds pour venir seront conquis, notamment par l'espace multimédia où seront présentées les toutes nouvelles technologies...
Bref, à recommander aux enfants et aux anciens enfants.

Les enfoirés du livre

Next to the Star Wars exhibition, there's currently the Foire du Livre held in Tour & Taxis until this Saturday. You won't find any clone troopers or Dark Vader around the corner there, but it's the opportunity to meet some writers like Amelie Nothomb or Marc Levy dedicating their books to the public, depending on the hour. This year, the main topic covers the wrath of the words.
I went last year with one of my colleagues who was looking for books for her little children, and it was like Ali Baba's cavern for her. She has to restrain her envy to buy everything because she had so many choices for her kids there. If you're looking for those kind of books, this is definitely a place to be.
There's also a lot of choices of comics, and other books also, but unfortunately, it's only in French.

Håll ögonen öppna!

Jag vet inte hur ni gör när ni är ute och går, men själv är jag ganska dålig på att lägga märke till saker och ting. Vare sig jag är på väg någonstans, jobbet, affären eller en kompis, eller bara är ute på söndagspromenad, så är det själva promenerandet som jag fokuserar på. Det som finns runtomkring tar jag oftast bara in som en helhet, men missar detaljerna.

I varje stad och varje kvarter finns dock oftast något att lägga märke till. Det kan vara ett lustigt utformat fönster, en vackert målad dörr eller kanske en hel byggnads utformning. Olika hus, skyltar och färger kan ge helt olika intryck på olika personer. Då och då hittar man någonting som lättar upp hela ens dag, och får en att le bara man går förbi det. Det gäller bara att hålla ögonen öppna!

The dark side of the force

Right now, if you live in Brussels, it's pretty impossible to ignore there's a Star Wars exhibition in my beloved Tour & Taxis. Last Friday was the official kick off of this and when I finished working and went out to the parking lot, I ended up stuck between Dark Vador and some clone troopers, while one of my colleagues was just delighted to see all of this parade in the hall of the building.

The exhibition was previously held in London and in Paris, where it was a huge success. More or less 700.000 people attended the one in Paris. But here in Brussels, I have the feeling it would be less a hit. Why? Because many fans of the double trilogy have told me they find the price of the ticket too expensive. At 13 euros, it isn't exactly what we could call a bargain. For 12 euros, you have an entrance at Batibouw, held soon in the Heysel, where there's a lot more to see than just a Chewbacca, siths, some starships and the princess Leia. Yet, some of the people I know are slowly changing their mind and admit that when you love, you don't count.
Would you go there? The exhibition will last until the 1rst of June.

Hypnotized, mezmerized by what my eyes saw

Near the place du Sablon and in the heart of the quartier des Marolles, there's an adress you should consider going to if you're looking for decoration for your house/apartment for a cheap price: New De Wolf. At the moment, the shop is full of Christmas decorations, and if you love decorating your Christmas tree like me, this is certainly a place to be. You will find tons of original decorations, for every taste: if you have a shitty taste or a very delicate one, you will find your happiness there. Most of all, these little things are less expensive than those you can find in shop like Inno, for example. I bought a set of snow stars for my christmas tree for only 0,75 cents per piece, while I found more or less the same thing at the Inno for 4,75 euros each.
The adress is well known even abroad, so it's quite surprising the first time you go there to hear so many different langages in the shop. Also, you should arm yourself with patience, because the shop is always full in the week-ends, especially on Sunday.
Personally, each time I go there, I have the impression to be a little kid again.

Depuis quelque temps, on voyait des peintures des squelettes un peu partout dans le ville, p.ex. sur les tissus tendus autour des échafaudages des bâtiments en rénovation. J'en ai découvert d'autres près de chez moi, voir photo (désolée pour la mauvaise qualité, il commencait à faire noir).

La raison ? Depuis un petit bout de temps, la salle des dinosaures de l'Institut des Sciences Naturelles est réouverte ! Elle était en travaux pendant pas mal de temps déjà, et si j'ai déjà visité le musée à plusieurs reprises, je n'ai pas encore eu l'occasion de voir cette fameuse exposition.
Vous avez de la famille ou des amis qui ont des enfants ? Kidnappez-les et allez y faire un tour, ils seront ravis ! Et vous aurez LA bonne excuse de vous y pointer aussi... ;-)
